I forgot
I forgot that Steve was human.
I didn’t think about the pain that he felt.
I forgot that rich people, heads of companies, people in charge cannot be well all the time.
I forgot to put my feet in his shoes.
I fell for the reality distortion field every time, all the time.
I stopped praying for him.
I forgot that there is no rewind in life.
Treat your ears right. Listen to this track.

Not a stranger
I fell in love with Steve Jobs without even knowing it back in 1989 at MIT using his NeXT computer. That computer brought a unique feeling to me that I cannot explain.
I never met Steve, never saw him in person. But that didn’t matter. I felt his joy in giving something to the people in this world. I felt the respect and love he had for human beings through the care and detail of every part...

Dear Boss...
Dear Boss,
I have enjoyed working here these past several years. You have paid me very well, given me benefits beyond belief. I have 3-4 months off per year and a pension plan that will pay my salary ‘til the day I die and a health plan that most people can only dream about.
Despite this, I plan to take the next 12-18 months to find a new position.
During this time I will show up for work...

Once you are real....
From “The Velveteen Rabbit” —
Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real.”
“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.
“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always...

Three notes walk into a bar
C, E-flat, and G go into a bar. The bartender says, “Sorry, but we don’t serve minors.”
So the E-flat leaves, and the C and the G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished; the G is out flat.
An F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough. A D comes into the bar and heads straight for the bathroom saying, “Excuse me. I’ll just be a...

iPad envisioned in 1968
Arthur C. Clarke envisioned the iPad of sorts when he wrote “2001: A Space Odyssey”:
From Arthur C. Clarke’s novel of 2001: A Space Odyssey:
When he tired of official reports and memoranda and minutes, he would plug his foolscap-sized Newspad into the ship’s information circuit and scan the latest reports from Earth. One by one he would conjure up the world’s major electronic...
